ABC / XYZ Inventory Analysis

Classify SKUs by annual usage value (ABC) and demand steadiness (XYZ) from a CSV of monthly usage. Free, runs in your browser, nothing is uploaded.

Analyze your items

Your file is processed in your browser and never uploaded.

Required: sku, unit_cost. Optional: description. Every other column is a monthly usage column, oldest first: 3 to 24 months (12 recommended). Up to 5,000 rows.

Thresholds

Defaults: A 80%, B 95%, X 0.5, Y 1.0.

How it works

Annual usage units = sum of the last (up to) 12 months × 12 ÷ number of those months. Annual usage value = annual units × unit cost.

ABC: items are sorted by annual value; the cumulative share including each item decides the class (A up to 80%, B up to 95%, the rest C; the top item is always A).

XYZ: CV = population standard deviation ÷ mean of monthly usage. X if CV ≤ 0.5, Y if ≤ 1.0, otherwise Z. Items with zero usage are “No usage”. Rows with problems are listed but not classified.

FAQ

What is ABC analysis?

Ranking items by annual usage value so attention and tighter controls go to the few items that carry most of the value.

What is XYZ analysis?

Grouping items by how steady their demand is, using the coefficient of variation: X is steady, Y varies, Z is erratic.

How should I use the 9-box?

AX items suit tight, frequent replenishment; AZ items need close review and more protection; CZ items are candidates for make-to-order or reduced stocking.

Is my data uploaded?

No. Calculations and CSV parsing run in your browser, and the numbers and files you enter are never sent to a server, unless you choose to share a link, which carries the single-item inputs in its address. The page has no ads, sign-up or third-party trackers; the site host keeps standard anonymous visit counts.
